Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

Hi Cheapskate, welcome to J2ski, you may have chosen a name that ought to belong to many of us on J2!
For people to offer possible solutions, it would be helpful to know where you would be travelling from, ie nearest airport(s)
In my first year or so, I would hitch 100 miles to the Lake District, and walk up Cross Fell, carrying skis. That was cheap! I had little in the way of options!

Hi Dave Mac,
I am in Ireland, so Dublin, Cork, or Shannon. Dublin is the best I suppose. And thanks for your reply. 3 or 4 days ski break would be the finest!
Regards,
Cheapskate

Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

Is the 3/4 days your perception that it would be cheaper than a week? This may not be the case. 3/4 days tends to mean d-i-y, whereas you may be able to get a good one week deal.
Re diy, Easyjet is no use for you, but Ryanair go to Salzburg.
Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

I had a squint at the DIY from Dublin, that Ryanair flight was around 260 Euros, and that is before Ryanair start their cost-doubling! There are a good few Irish ladies go to Niederau, so there must be reasonable TO deals. Skigirl and Mamabien may be along soon, might have to wait until the pubs shut though......

Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

Hey Cheapskate
Im in the same both, looking for a cheap weekend somewhere. If there are a few of you, there may vary well be. You can fly at the moment with rynair to millian for 59 euro return and hire a car for around 15 euro a day, also using the features of this great site you will find how many ski resorts are near the airport your arriving and how long. They are not the greatest resorts but they would do for a day or two i suppose, im still investigating the resorts near milian. But some early dec skiing is definely in my cards.

type in google search, ski resorts near milian bergamo and you will get j2ski site adress

hope this helps

Or you could just click the link in the menu to the lift...

But you're right, plenty of resorts to choose from and you might turn up some hidden gems where the TOs don't go.

Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

Flights to Munich from Dublin 2nd of dec to 5th of Dec
Euro81

Car hire
Euro84

Then you have nearly a hundred ski resorts to pick from within two hours of driving, and a lot of good ones in that selection. Plus if you can find some friends to come along you will find that spliting the cost of getting to the resort is less, plus that cost of car hire was for a 24 year old male.

Next you can book a place to stay in a B&B outside the resort or in the resort, if your outside the resort it would be cheaper plus you can also check out different resorts easily. While if your in the resorts, then its party time lol. So depending on how you could do it, you could possible keep a trip away for less the 600 euro

Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

That's through sky scanner, one way is rynair and the other is aer lingus. You can find some cheap flights through sky scanner sometimes.

Just found out 3 days in Soll for 187 euro for accomindation and lift pass for the 3 days.

So all together,

80 flights
84 car hire
90 accom
97 Lift pass( skiWelt area 250km)

Euro350

not bad eh

also, that's the MOST you pay for accom and car hire. Because the car hire you can split, also that is a studio apartment your staying in so that could be split as well. Just dont know about ski hire or lessons
Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

I know of a place just outside scheffau. Was 45 Eu per night HB, with a minibus ride to/from the Gondola. Dec 3 is a bit early for the low Alps, but is likely to be OK on the top runs.

Re:really cheap ski weekend breaks

Yeah i was thinking about that, might look around for a higher resort. But just goes to show that you could find something good if you look around hard enough lol.

So im talking to a few and might organise a trip away around then. I generaly go skiing at that time of year because im busier jan, feb, mar and april with clients
