New skis

I fell in love last year, at the ski show, with a pair of Volkl Kenjas. They served me well and have still got a lot of life in them and I'm sure I will go on using them for some time yet.

However, if, 'hypothetically', I was to get some new skis what would you recommend? 8)

Re:New skis

SB, those Volkl's are a cracking ski and I dont really see why you'd want some more. However, as these are all mountains, I can only think that a pair of decent GS or similar piste skis would be a good selection.
I found some real bargains in mayrhofen in early March, including Fischer World Cups down from 699 euros to 249 euros. I have asked myself a few times since why I didn't buy them.

I agree with the first point, but no matter where you are when the buggers stand on your skis
let them pass you and then unclip their bindings with your pole, with a bit of practice they don't even know that you are the one that has done it.
It does not help with the scratch on your skis but sure does give you some satisfaction

So just check behind you if your bindings have become unclipped in the lift queue because you might just have wickers behind you

Re:New skis

The short ones are real skis, wood core sandwich construction with sidewalls and sintered bases. They make a wide range of carving skis up to a massive 12m radius ) . Most of Lustis production goes to the major Austrian brands, their own brand skis are only marketed in the Czech Republic, but they will ship abroad. They are extremely good value GBP275 will get you a FIS spec racing ski. Perhaps the most interesting ski in the range is the tiny Giraffe 70cm/1.5m, which they say can be used to teach children from the age of 3 to carve.

Obviously the DPS is much more interesting, especially the Wailer / Yvette 112RP I'm surprised that Bandit doesn't already have a pair in her quiver.
Re:New skis

I don't mind the odd accidental nudge from the person behind, and it happens everywhere. What I do hate is the person behind literally climbing all over your tails, esp as their my skis and not rentals. By far the worst examples of this for me came in France, Montgenevre and Serre Che to be precise. MontG was every single queue, and Serre Che was an isolated incident when a French guy decided to push through everyone and ski right across everyones skis, big mistake when he got to me!
Mayrhofen had some bad mannered Germans but as long as you're firm and let them know you won't tolerate it it seems to stop. The look of shock on their faces when you turn round and give them a bollocking is quite amusing.

I'm with SB on St Anton. For example, I got pushed to the ground by a German speaker in a lift queue there. The guy just decided that he was going in front. The lifties grabbed him, and took his details, as I took quite a fall and suffered substantial bruising to the back of my pelvis.

Re:New skis

Bandit, that is awful!

I once saw a guy, clearly off his face, try to ski on to a gondola. The lifties dealt with him swiftly after they picked their jaws up off the floor. I don't even think he had a ticket. It was almost amusing, in a beavis and butt head kind of way. Some people live on a different planet.
