Zell am See Slalom course on film

An interesing feature in Zell am See is the opportunity to test yourself on a timed slalom course and have the run video'd.

Here's a link to my efforts

Doing it, I thought I was going quite fast and carving the turns reasonably well  Disappointed to see the actuality. Turns are really pretty poor :x

Still good fun - everybody in the group had a few tries and the competition for fastest time was quite intense - unfortunately, not me

Looked great if that was your first time through a course. It looked like a modified GS course typically used for club racing. It doesn't matter how good your carving is, everything goes to pieces in the gates, unless you have some coaching, and practice. In my case, a lot of coaching and practice is needed.

Like you I thought I was going really fast !! and like you the reality was a different matter. Unlike you however I was so excited to see my time, I looked up to see the clock, lost concentration and fell over.
Real pain - but as you will remember you then have to go up a lift to ski down etc etc. So to the hospital next day - 40% tear on cruciate ligament - ouch nad a rubbish time too.

Hi Nadia race,
that sounds really painful

I hope the ligament heals okay or you can get it repaired, or whatever the treatment is these days.

Ally

Yes it was painfull, but it only took me 6 weeks before I could get back to ski a little on the glacier in Kaprun, just to test it out. I skied with the knee brace and it was OK, although a bit weak. That was a couple of years ago.
Its fine now - In fact just had the best day skiing today in Leogang, the snow was amazing and the slopes empty - apart from about 200 English school kids being bussed in from other resorts that have closed earlier than expected. Deep joy.
