Going skiing for the first time any advice on private lessons where to go? how much? Going 7th April for 4 days.have to say slightly nervous about the whole thing. any advice welcome.CHEERS

Been to Morzine a few times. Got back about 3 weeks ago from my latest trip. 2 choices ski on the side of Le Pleney or you can go on the other side to Avoriaz. Plenty of ski school options. ESF etc. You could book on line before you go. Personally would recommend a ski group lesson as these can be good fun and its a great way to meet other skiers of a similar ability.

Now the bad bit. Morzine is a great place alebiet now like most of Europe becoming pricey due to the state of the currency rates. The main problem however is the snow. This year Morzine has had the worst snow for many years. If you are going in April keep your eye out for the snow reports. They desperately need some. Maybe book your lessons dependent on the snow in the area as it can fluctuate depending on where you ski. Good luck and have a great time.

I'm going out to meet up with my ski-mad friend in Montriond (down the hill from Morzine) & according to him the pistes are OK at present. (He's been out there for month already). How they will hold up depends on the snowfall in the next month before you go.

The British Ski School in Avoriaz has a good reputation (or did the last I heard)

I can't recommend BASS highly enough - they're not the cheapest but they are great fr both group and private lessons. We were in Les Gets and Morzine last week - the snow is better in Les Gets but your ski pass will cover both - have fun!
