Easter sking at Glenshee

Thinking about Glenshee for Easter, what is the snow record for Glenshee around mid April?

I usually make a decision the night before traveling up there. It can be a hit or a miss to be honest.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

In the 70s I did spend 4 or 5 Easters, and 2 Whitsuns in Cairngorm. I know that is not Glenshee, but it is an indicator. Sadly the Iglu snow history does not cover Scotland.
If there is sufficient snow cover, it will be seriously mobbed.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

Do not waste time and money at Glenshee. Serious lack of investment in equipment over the years has left it in a sorry state, and there are huge queues if conditions are good.
If determined to go, check forecast carefully - do not go in winds over 25mph for instance.
And go very early - on good days they shut the car parks by 09.30.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

That is a wee bit harsh on Glenshee. It is true about the investment, since we have not had the snow stability in some years. Queuewise, it is better to go mid-week and avoid the weekend queues. Right about the winds, especially in low temps ~ that is true for all the Scottish Ski resorts.
Not true about always closing the car parks~ I have parked there at all times, good days and bad. You must have had some bad experiences, CBM! I take it you are not the same Big Mags that was in the papers several years ago for running a drugs centre in the West of Scotland? - )

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

But - back on thread - snow-forecast.com's history for Glenshee shoes no snow, and no lifts open for 19th April right back to 2001.
Cairngorm showing a few lifts open most years, sometimes with runs to resort open but generally higher lifts only.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

No, I am not now or have ever been involved in drug selling. I do have evidence of car park closure and Glenshee is a run down ski area. I live in NE Scotland and can get there in an hour, but choose not to. Many people do go there....they just choose to put up with crap facilities. Up to you whether you want to do that...or ski in a place where lifts work, there are plenty nice stopping places for loos and food near the slopes (not just one rubbish cafe at base and one squalid hut on the hill), and where the snow covers the ground. Skiing on rocks and heather is not my idea of fun. Yes, they had good snow last year....but the facilities are just too basic.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

I can meet you with these comments. There is a lack of investment in most Scottish areas. I would like to see snow making on the runs ~ but it isn't going to happen, mainly because of the green lobby, but also be cause of the lack of serious investment. It would mean creating a dam, burying pipes underground, and having the pump bases on view, all the year round.
Until that happens, all the Scottish ski areas will be dominated by weekend only activity.

Re:Easter sking at Glenshee

I have given up on Scotland, whenever I go it is either closed due to wind or the roads are close due to snow.
