We have aan opportunity to ski at Alpes d'Huez at Christmas. Can anyone give me their opinion of this resort? How are the runs?

Welcome to J2ski :D Big resort, ski runs head in pretty well every direction. All standards of slopes, all skill levels catered for. Plenty to do off the slopes.
Don't miss skiing the Sarenne.

Overall it's good value for money, it's known as being less expensive than other resorts of comparable size in France.

Welcome to J2Ski Canadienne!

Alpe D'Huez as stated by Bandit caters for all - it's an excellent resort, I skied here last year and loved it. Snow sure resort with the highest lift reaching 3330M (Pic Blanc).
It's also home to the longest black run in europe (La Sarenne - 16km) worth doing to boast that you've done it (even though the majority of it isn't even as difficult as a black)

Definitely a resort worth visiting. I will certainly be going back there!
Skiing: the art of catching cold and going broke while rapidly heading nowhere at great personal risk.

Its a good varied resort, and reasonably priced by Frog standards. I wrote a report on it from January 2010, not sure where it is but if you can be arsed you will find it on here somewhere.
Go there its good.
