My son races on the dry slope at Norwich and the older boys use a Kunzman ceramic ski edger for extra bite on the matting. Can anyone tell me if they are worth buying and exactly how they work? We already wax and edge his skis and keep the edges sharp.

Welcome to J2ski :D AFAIK Ceramic Stone's are a finishing tool, to ensure the edge is consistently sharp. Have a look at Bartletts.
