Hi
My family is looking at a late ski holiday. My wife & son (9) have never skied before, I am a "low end" intermediate. We have read that learning in US/Canada is so much better than Europe. We wish to travel early April for 7/10 days. Easiest destinations for us North East (flying from UK), but which if any resorts would still be open mid April & what would conditions be like.

I have also looked a lot at Colorado & Alberta resorts, but a lot less expensive for us to get to Boston or Montreal. Please help as I cannot decide which resort, or if it will be worth extra to travel further west.

All help really appreciated.

Many Thanks

Generally you will have better conditions in the West than the East as well as more to do at night and during the day should you not be skiing *(depending where you end up). I am sure trecher, mike, pavel? can give you some more information on the East Coast but for now I am going to say Go West!

I have only visited a few resorts in Canada (mostly in an around the Rockies/Monashees) but I am going to throw out Banff as a recommendation. Generally cheaper (compared to places such as Whistler) and conditions in April are traditionally fantastic. At Lake Louise they have a green run from the top of every chairlift/gondola which makes it the perfect place to learn.

Will wait for more recommendations but if you want any more details/info on Banff just ask away!
