If the moguls are tightly packed, then a feet-tight-together stance will work best. I'm certainly no expert but try to keep the back straight - absorb the bumps with your knees rather than your back.

One of the most helpful tips I've had was "elbows out", as described by Warren in our Ski Technique section. That helps you keep your hands / poles in closer.

i have to try the feet glued together stance...see if that helps.

just got back skiing this weekend. skied the moguls alot better this weekend. warrens compression turns helped alot. instead of bashing the bumps i was alot smoother, better speed control and less wear and tear on the body.

going in taller with a quiet upperbody also helped. i'll try elbows out next time.

It will also depend on the line you're taking. If you're trying to stay in the zipper line, a narrow stance is necessary, but with other lines (ie. cutting up the side of a steep bump) a slightly wider stance can be usefully applied.
Hi to everyone at J2ski, by the way!

Choosing a mogul technique is depending on the way you wanna attack the slope. A good prepared slope will give you a 3 way- standard line. A. The way from top to top and so over and over the moguls. B. The way of 1 over the top, one over the flankside C- The way from side to side.
The last one is certainly most recommended for beginners in mogul skiing. Placing your upper body right in the middle above the feet is your aim. Like this a stiff back and flexible knee operation, will result in attempting to maintain your center of gravity between your feets. Displacing your upper body to far a-side (lateraly) will cause inbalance, and will cause to much force on the upper ski.
Mogul skiing is a matter of playing with energie, and balance. One "not to forgotten rule" : always keep your face and chest stable directed to the bottom of the slope.

Greetz,
