Hi, has anyone here been to both Vail and Whistler? We have been to Vail 3 times and since going ther have not been anywhere else as it is so awesome there... but next year we are thinking of checking out a new resort just for some variety. We were thinking of Whistler. Does anyone have thoughts on how Whistler compares to Vail, or a suggestion for another place to try that is as nice as Vail?
I've been to Whistler before as a kid, but that was just for one day (we didnt ski int he resort) but I remember really enjoying it then...
Our family consists of some of us strong intermediates, others beginners and some young kids including a 3.5 year old... thanks!!!

Only hesitation I have about Whistler is the reliability of the weather. Near the coast and mild conditions can lead to rain sometimes.
Nice place though. Should be a hell of a lot cheaper than Vail too I'd have thought

Worth going to Whistler once, it is top stuff, the entrance to Blackcoome glacier is breathtaking. But it's scary skiing blind down a steep face. This is reinforcing deadkenny's point about the weather. We had one week sunny, one week in white out.
Enjoyed Vail also, but wouldn't like to be there for two weeks. One suggestion would be to base in Breckenridge. The area lift pass covered several resorts, including Vail, Keystone, Beaver Creek, Arapaho basin. A-Basin scenery is stunning.

Whistler is for sure the place to check out. Its an experience that you won't forget. This year with the new Gondola that goes from Whistler Mountain top to Blackcomb Mountain top will be something to check out.

I've been reading up on Whistler all day, reckon I can get flights, accommodation, 7 day pass and transfers for 900 EUR, which is fairly reasonable.
