Hi folks,

A bit of advice from the collective masses out there please if possible.
I'm currently serving in the armed forces in a hot and dusty place, not returning to Blighty until ealry April. I'm looking at getting away for my yearly ski fix, but its obviously gonna be a late one.
I've checked out a few place on the net, and the one that has caught my eye so far is Killington in New England.
Can someone please pass on any info they have on this area. I'll be new to skiing in the USA having been in the Alps for many years.
Is this a good place for snow at this time of year, is the skiing any good? any nightlife to be had??
Basically anything you've got would be great, or any alternatives for mid april will be looked into.

Many thanks

John

The weather in the US has been unreliable in recent years, but this is shaping up to be a colder/snowier winter than recent years.

Ask the question on epic ski, there are bound to be locals who can give thier best guess at what conditions will be like.

Hi - bet you can't wait to get out of that nasty heat! Where are you based?

I lived in the states for a while and used to ski in Killington on the occasional weekend. It was some time ago and I have to admit that I can't remember much other than the free buffalo wings and potatoe wedges during apres ski and the boxes of tissues in the lift queues.

On a slightly more serious note, I thought it was a great ski area, lots of choice and the year I was there it wasn't that great for snow but it was still open later in the season due to it being so cold.

However, that was about 15 years ago, with global warming and all that I might be talking a load of rubbish.

Skiing in the states is very different to skiing in Europe, I personally prefer Europe for the mountains, but the states is a different experience.

Sure there must be some experts on here. Anyone?

We have just returned from a week in Killington. I would highly recommend it. Lots of snow, very reasonable priced; but then we are used to European skiing. Slopes and lifts were quiet although we were there over superbowl weekend so I'm not sure if that made a differnce. The resort is quite spread out. Can't really comment about the nightlife. The area itself seemed very quiet. Just ask if there is anything specific I can help with.
