Well, it's an early arrival for the snow here in Borovets with temps dropping dramaticly. Saturday the 10th Nov brought our first real significant snow fall of 17cm. This was in the resort which is at 1350m, and as the runs start from this height, plenty more has fallen above. Monday the 12th came with another 8cm falling and there is more "forecasted" towards the end of this week. If current temps continue???, we are off to a good start to creating a base.
New snow cannons have been installed over the summer on the higher runs (2600m)to enable an earlier start and a later finish to the ski season.
Happy skiing

Hi Fiona.

Hi Terence,
I havent stayed in the Rila hotel as I live here, so have no need but I have heard from people that have stayed there last year and the year before that the hotel is good.Great location overlooking the chairlift and the ski runs of Martinovi Baraki. Ski in/out, pool and fitness facilities etc.For a bit of pampering, have a massage at the Samokov hotel for aprox.30 leva.Nice bar area with outdoor tables when on a nice day you can sit outside and watch everyone falling over
There is a nice complex right next door called the Royal Plaza where there are self catering apartments for rent.
You can send us a private message if you would like assistance in booking some accommodation.

After an initial "Glitch" I can now reply :)

A friend stayed at the Rila last season and only advises to "avoid it like the plague"

All rooms had their mobile phones stolen when she there and there were no signs of "forced entry"

The police were apparently in the bar downstairs and took no interest in the thefts. Also, skis were stolen from the hotel ski rack (but no hire skis were stolen funnily enough)

Bad feedback all round :( :(
