My holiday booked for St Anton has been cancelled due to Covid , but no further explanation given. I see that Crystal , with whom the holiday was booked , are still advertising to sell holidays to Austria , and even St Anton , I think , for one week later than mine , which started 8th Jan. Anyone know whats happening ?

"The Austrian government have announced that, from 19 December 2020 until at least 10 January 2021, if you are travelling from a risk area, you will have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival in Austria. Precise details have not yet been published. The whole of the UK is currently considered a risk area. You have the option of taking a self-funded COVID-19 test after 5 days of entry. If your result is negative, you no longer need to stay in quarantine."

Thanks. So I hopefully only booked a week too early . There is an irony here too. I live in Portugal , and in the Algarve to boot. That is a very low risk area. I have to go via England always to get an economical holiday.

Thanks for that SB. I was just about to post that I thought the lockdown measures ran out on the 7th January... but the info on the UK gov site (quarantine required for arrivals until the 10th) is presumably what's triggered Crystal.

Best option, of course, is to call Crystal to be sure.

No point in wasting good money after bad. I hope to book again as soon as things become a little clearer.

Above now extended to 18th January. Gets more complicated as they are testing the population on 16th and 17th January. If you don't get tested then it's an extra week in quarantine until 25th January.

I am expecting the Pfizer vaccine to be approved at the meeting in Amsterdam tomorrow and they are ready in Austria and Germany to start an immediate deployment. But this will be too late to save the ski season I think.....but we "might" see some easing of restrictions by the end of Feb possibly.

p.s. Lifts are still opening on 24th December but you must wear an FFP2 Mask in the lifts - regular cotton stuff not good enough.
