Love Saalbach but struggling to find a good transfer option. Have used the holiday shuttle in the past but see they have reduced their scheduled shared trips and none of the times work for our flights, meaning long waits either end of the holiday. Private transfers are being quoted at nearly €500 which is a lot to add to the holiday costs for two people. Can't drive ourselves and feeling the train option to Zell plus taxi could be tricky with the amount of stuff we are travelling with- includes ski boots and skis.. We've been in Obertauern the last few seasons and they have a great shuttle (Habersatter) which is frequent, reliable, and cheap, so return to Saalbach is proving a bit eye watering. Any suggestions?

Alps2Alps any good? We're working with them this winter, and I've seen some quite good prices - especially week-days - quoted.

You can get a quote for your specific dates on our Salzburg Transfer page.

Thanks. Good price for a private transfer and cheaper than when I looked at them direct. Can't understand why Saalbach doesn't have a viable shared transfer option though. Is it because of the terrible traffic on Saturdays maybe? Nearly missed our flight last time we used Holiday Shuttle.

We've used the public bus service (Postbus) lots of times, it's by far the cheapest at around €15 per person each way. I didn't see your flight times to Salzburg airport but if you can make it work the service is completely dependable.
There's one change at Maishofen with just a few minutes to wait, If you tell the driver when you board at the airport he'll communicate with the connecting bus to let them know there are passengers making the connection. The bus routes are 680 and 260. Check the schedule in English at www.postbus.at/en

Thank you DJEN. Haven't considered Postbus before but our flight times are afternoon so hopefully doable. We don't travel light though so it'd have to be quite easy, at our ages we aren't keen on lugging stuff very far!

The ÖBB Scotty Trip Planner, gives details on your choices by bus and train (or both combined).
You can frequently pick up special offers for reduced price tickets with 2 adults or more travelling together.
The public bus from Salzburg airport to the central train station goes every 20 minutes or so, and stops right outside. And at Zell am See train station the bus stop is right outside where you could pick up the mostly hourly 260 Postbus to Saalbach.
Over the years we've tried all the options from private transfer to Holiday Shuttle, bus and/or train and the bus gets our vote for being the best value, perfectly acceptable and absolutely cheap and cheerful option. Happy skiing!
