Hi All
Looking to take a 3 month break from work in 2021 and become a ski bum. Looking for recommendations for self catering accommodation.
Conditions are it has to be near a good ski area Soll, Elmau maybe as this enables us to visit a variety of other resorts in the car if the mood takes us. We are getting the SuperSki pass which looks great value for money.

Anyway if you know someone or where to look then feel free to point me in the direction. I have done AirBnB but there isn't a lot around at the moment. Budget is about 1 to 1.2k GBP a month.

Thanks in advance

Hi, that sounds like a plan...

Munich_Johnny on here is currently living in Niederau and planning to move to Westendorf (IIRC) shortly.

You might find some of the info posted a few days ago on the Flights to Munich thread, discussing the SkiWelt, useful.

As you will see the "current" price on the Superski card is €830 or €747 if purchased in early December, so break-even is roughly 15 days of skiing.

But you wanna also consider the Snow Tirol card at €825 as it has more ski areas. Gets a little complicated as for example Zell am See is on the Superski card and NOT on the Tirol card....so study in advance which works better.

That budget should be plenty enough with a little digging around. I know people that pay half that amount in Niederau....but again depends on exactly where you wanna be, how close to the slopes and bars etc etc.

You may wanna consider Itter for example....it is quieter socially but of course still SkiWelt. Are you there for skiing or Apres-Ski :-)

When you say 2021 I assume you basically mean "next season"?

Hi Johnny

For the multi pass I think I meant the Tirol card as this covers something like 90 resorts, this one https://snowcard.tirol.at/de/index.

We don't mind Niederau, especially the Witch alm :D , but would prefer a resort with a tad more variety of skiing outside the front door as it were.

We are definitely going for the skiing, the way I can consume alcohol I would be in hospital after the first month.

We will have our own car but also happy to use the buses. Our biggest problem is finding accommodation for that period, AirBnB have a few but most WAY over our budget, and I am struggling to find places where accommodation is advertised.

And finally yes I mean next season

Thanks

Wylie

As I say - the SuperSki pass is not bad as such, depends where you wanna ski, but I prefer the Tirol Snowcard personally.

Skiing in Niederau sucks, but Auffach/Alpbach is good and a 10 min drive (or bus), or Hopfgarten is 10 mins in the other direction. So with a car it works well.

But I agree that for real convenience of better skiing I would rather be based in one of the SkiWelt towns directly.

I would not use Airbnb. I can ask around for you, but would only be my Niederau connections so that doesn't sound ideal. But for example Auffach is a cheaper option and the skiing is pretty good (but then you are 20 mins from Hopfgarten).

Hey Johnny

Hope you are getting some runs in.

If you could ask around that would be fantastic, definitely worth some beer tokens. Itter seems nice but are happy anywhere on the skiwelt. We are definitely going for the tirol card, we aim to get some serious kms in whilst out there.

Ideally we would like a 2 bed accommodation as we have friends and family who may want to join us.

Thanks in advance

It may be worth contacting local tourist information for the areas you are most interested in.
