Passo tonale any good?

Hi, we are thinking of going skiing for new year 2019... looking to go high for the snow, 8 people all abilities from beginner to expert..what are the forums thoughts on Passo tonale

I'm gonna guess that they'll say that it's OK for beginners/intermediates, but not much good for anyone else

Stewski. I went to Tignes in January and was very impressed. I'm middling intermediate (happy on blues, reds and pisted blacks, so long as there aren't many bumps!).

Passo Tonale is good for beginners and early intermediates but also connected on the same lift pass is Ponte di Legno and Temu which are better for competent intermediates as the runs are either red or black, plus there is also the Presena Glacier which has a red at the top, a couple of blues midway and after mid station a long black down - and when the snow is good, there's off piste all over the place.

Spent New Year in Passo a few years back. Had great snow all the way down to Ponte. The hotel we stayed had a massive garla dinner with entertainment which was spent with a load of mad Italians. Loved it at am thinking of doing Christmas there this year.

been with school groups on 3 occasions, at Easter, and agree with Powderpuppy.
Love the run down to the valley from the Presena glacier. Conditions on the glacier were always fab.

It is a bit limited for those seeking blacks but has enough skiing for beginners and intermediates with a mixture of blues and reds with a decent lift system so queues are limited.
Been there twice - the first time as a last minute thing after coming out of plaster after having a toe tendon repaired (didn't know in time if I was going to be fit to ski so left booking late) and was pleasantly surprised.
Suited my wife well as she found navigation easy as most of the slopes are either side of a long valley and the reds wide enough for her not to get anxious. Snow was like pudding as it was Early April.

Decided to return last year - fab snow and sure in the knowlege it was suitable for a beginner as we were taking my eldest daughter's partner for his first taste of snow. Whilst he was in ski school we went down to Ponte Di Legno for the more challenging stuff.

it is on our radar. We are an experienced group and the freeride routes appeal. Depends how confident you are a few kms off the beaten track. It would likely be ok for a mixed group as far as anything would be. I say that because most experts arent really going to want to ski slowly all day every day on limited terrain so the group would likely split at some point anyway.
