I'm a newbie, who is going to whistler dec 15th. My question is why they aren't making snow?

They are. See the current webcams on whistler.com
You have to understand that temps at the base are still above freezing, so no snow can be made there until temps decrease more. Also understand that WB is over 8K acres, so even though 700 acres of snow making would be huge to a place like Vermont, its pittance to Whistler.
Also, this resort is HUGE! The Hugest! So like 2/3 of the skiable terrain is above elevation 5K feet, so even if only 2/3 is open we you are there, that's still about 5K acres open. How many other resorts are that big even at 100% open?
I'll be there beginning Dec 21...I'm not worried. This place is like pizza, even when its not good, its still pretty good!
