Emily Sarsfield Makes Olympic Women's Ski Cross Quarter-Finals

J2SkiNews posted Feb-2018

Emily Sarsfield (34), finally made her Olympic women's ski cross debut in PyeongChang after injury and other issues precluded her appearance at the previous two Olympics.

Earlier today she came through the first round in second place but exited at the quarter-final stage.

"Conditions were a bit different to training and the seeding run because we had ten centimetres of fresh snow and that can really affect our speed," said Emily, continuing, "We had to throw all our training out the window and learn some new tactics and we were doing different things on the track to what we had in training. The one thing I'm known for is a strong start but I think I tried a bit too hard there I think."
"To be here at this event is huge for me and to be racing against these amazing girls is super cool. It meant a huge amount to me today."

Canada took gold and silver in the competition through Kelsey Serwa and Brittany Phelan respectively with Fanny Smith of Switzerland winning bronze.
