Just a salutary warning to all ....do take your European Health card with you ... I took a really bad fall on Monday second day ..I have no recollection of it but I know it happened by the bruises. I ended up in the Cavalese hospital where I received excellent treatment including a Cat scan..no waiting and friendly service. and no problems because I had my card with me..I have/had concussion and memory loss ..they gave me a report and the X-rays to take home ....so make sure you take it with you

Thanks for the reminder - EHICs are often overlooked!
That doesn't sound fun at all, so hope you're firing on all cylinders again and no lasting damage.

...... another extremely useful facility that may not survive Brexit
Sounds like you had a concussion as part of your injuries. As a matter of interest, were you wearing a lid?

Hi ..Yes I was wearing a lid ...it seems to have a small dint in it..the doctor asked me if I had it with me ..but I hadn't...I'm now developing floaters in my right eye which seems to be a consequence of the accident ..its all good fun

Hope you recover quick, sounds nasty! I'm sure before the EU we had some reciprocal arrangement so hopefully we will still get something in place. Otherwise it will be down to insurance companies.

The above is correct. Other non Eu countries (Iceland) still benefit from their version of EHIC.
Hope you get better soon. Was it an overnight stay?

They wanted to but I didn't. They let me out on the proviso that I was observed for various signs of decrepitude... Which my partner did.

Wise words, hope you're well Daved. Always worth taking along with decent travel insurance.
