Hello there,
We are basing ourselves in Bad Ischl for a week mid January can you recommend a ski area.
Looking for blues, reds and good food. Any tips on affordable rentals in the area for boards & nordic.
And if anyone has a good winter hiking area I would love to hear it.
Thanks & Cheers

Hello,
Bad Ischl is near to a few different resorts, Feuerkogel in Ebensee is about 20 minutes drive and is a small resort with what you're looking for in terms of piste choice and food! There is also the much larger resort of Dachstein West with the village of Gosau being nearest to Bad Ischl. This is about 30-40 minutes drive away. Gosau also has a good rentals store near the Hornspitz chair lift and a great langlauf/Nordic ski track along the length of the valley.
The mountain lakes near Ebensee called Offensee and also Langbathseen are beautiful anytime of year but are also easy winter hikes. The Salzkammergut area in general is great for all winter activities.
Enjoy your holiday!
