Soll - Austria

Hi folks,

Hope you're all well and ready for the winter!

Trying to book transfer from Salzburg to Soll using public transport - OBB i think it's called.

I can't see how to book a return journey though or is it a case of booking 2 single journeys?

Anyone used Austrian trains before?

Many times from Innsbruck railway station to many destinations. The wesbite http://www.oebb.at/en/ is your friend and, although a little confusing at first, is a very useful tool.

I've always booked two singles - not certain whether returns are available - and the site comes up with the best price for your trip.

You might be better considering a taxi tranfer service. There is no train station in Soll, the nearest is Worgl or Kufstein so you would have to get a transfer from there in any event. Also because of the geography, a train journey can take up to two and a half hours from Salzburg(plus transfer time from the station to Soll) whereas a direct taxi transfer would take about an hour and a quarter. If there is more than one person travelling, a taxi transfer could also be competetively priced.

LOTA, ncouse - many thanks for your in depth responses. As i am meeting up with a group who have already booked through Crystal, i am travelling alone - so it was really expensive for a taxi transfer. I have just booked through OBB and total travel time to Soll is 1h50, so not too bad and only £23 return!!

Ncouse, have you skied Soll/Skiwelt before?

Yes,I have skied in the SkiWelt quite a few times and will be there for a day next week! It is a large interconnected ski area with very modern infrastructure and good piste management.Also extensive snow making facilities. Good variety of blue and red runs although a lot of the runs are fairly short. Depending on time of year it can be very busy which because of many crossing runs can make for some interesting experiences!
