Is this likely to have a significant impact on ski package holidays? I think they operated a lot of the ski charters. Will the Tour operators be able to replace them in time?

Coming on top of the wonderful planning by Ryanair, it could be a difficult winter for ski travellers .

Chin up, on the positive side, lots of planes and pilots with not a lot to do.

This could be the time to check your travel insurance has 'airline goes bust' coverage. Monarch may not be the last. Apparently most policies don't have this. Also if your ticket (each leg) costs more than £99 book with a credit card for refund protection. Under £99 (per leg) the cover doesn't apply, apparently.

It's a real shame, especially for so many to have lost their jobs. Being positive, I am thinking that a lot of planes up for grabs will allow other carriers like jet2 to pick up the gaps, I cannot see the ski/winter market being a bad place to go for, the planes I go on are always full.

Decent airline and sad for those who have lost their jobs as well as those who have lost their holidays.
