I was in borovets last month, The gondola is almost constantly out of use as it was built around 1939 in france and used for almost 40 years prior to being given to bulgaria along whith most of the other hand me down chair lifts. if you manage to learn to ski you may be able to get up the mountain but when you get there you will only find 2 chair lifts if they are in use, all the rest are botton lifts which are a complete joke, in my opinion bulgaria is a shit hole, the food is crap and I found the locals rude and aggressive, I will never set foot in bulgaria againklr3711 wrote:hi its my first time skiing and im going to bulgaria on feb 10th, to the borovets resort i think. ive been looking at the weather reports and there doesn't seem to be hardly any snow. how much will i need to be able to have a good weeks skiing on intermediate slopes? also has anyone been skiing to bulgaria and know if the resort is good?

Went to that resort a couple of years ago in Feb, I agree with the last comments! Food was crap, locals were pushy and the snow was so thin we had to play dodge the mud coming down the slopes................

Hi there,
I've been going to Bulgaria for a few years now and I must say that you'll need an open mind and laid back attitude. Yes the hotel food is not to good, and the locals arent that cheerfull but my friends and I have always enjoyed going there.
In boro a year or so ago, theres a really good steak house opposite the Samokov hotel (if its still there). Boro does need alot of updating mind, but as long as theres enough snow to ski, you'll have a ball!!
