Formerly owned by the Gualandi family, the shop is perfectly situated within a few paces of the main lifts out of Tignes le Lac and the meeting place for ski lessons from ESF, Evolution2 and others.
The new owners are Ludovic and Laetitia Hertault, who acquired the shop in the summer, and a two minute conversation is enough to confirm the enthusiasm they have for their new venture - and for mountain sports.
The shop is now called Mountain Story, a reflection of the new owner's wish for every visitor to create a story for their own, personal adventure.
Ski Hire Equipment - All New for this season
In addition to the premises being fully refurbished, all hire equipment stock is new for this season and they have a wide range of high quality kit for all levels.
I rode Head Magnum SuperShapes, which were just about perfect - and great fun - for the conditions last week, with others in our party taking skis varying from Movement twin-tips to Rossignol Hero junior skis.
My young apprentice, on Rossignol Heroes provided by Mountain Story, adding to his own "mountain story" by tackling his first proper Black (Descente on the Grande Motte, largely wind-scoured hard-pack that day)
In addition to the requisite workshops and experts to look after the equipment, which is regularly serviced, there are heated lockers to leave skis and boots (virtually next to the lifts) overnight.
Always wanted to try Touring?
Less common in hire shops is support for Ski Touring, and Mountain Story aim to remedy that with over thirty full sets of touring skis, skins and boots available for hire. They will also be running introductory sessions for Ski Touring so you can try it out for an hour or two after the lifts close on a Monday night.
Ask in the shop for details of these sessions, and for lessons with their partners Evolution2.
