Hey, I`m a noob to this forum but was hoping to get some advice on riding switch on shape skis.

When I was younger I used to ski all the time. That was over ten years ago. Recently I moved to japan and am in a situation where I can ski every weekend again, and have been.

Unfortunetly, the last time I skied I hadn`t hit puberty yet!

So I am still getting used to all the new stuff I can do. I have been learning everything from skiing in powder, in the woods in powder, hitting spine jumps, and whatever else.

ANYWAY, riding switch. I don`t seem to have any trouble going from regular to switch, but going back to regular is difficult for me. There are so many things I don`t know. For example:

Where should my balance be when skiing switch?
I see younger kids staggering there stance, what is that all about?
How do you effectively pop, to go from regular to switch and back again while skiing fast?

This last one I am most interested in. What do I want to be thinking about when I start trying to pop 180s to go from switch to regular, and back again?

I keep thinking I see skiers lift a leg and then kind of hop the other ski off the ground quickly when they pop. What is going on there?

Also, when I try to go back to regular from switch and I twist my body, I usuallly stop the spin way before I wanted to, slowing my speed down and not sending me straight down the hill again. What do I want to be doing to generate plenty of spin when I am transferring between switch and regular?

okay, if anyone can answers any of these questions I`d be psyched. I really want to get good at these things. Thanks
