I am off to Les Arcs 1950 on 5 March with about 6 others. We are not into big apres, but do like to have a drink for two after skiing and maybe some at night. While we are there it is also my mate's birthday.

I know LA 1950 is not a big party town, but are there any places we should be heading for?

I hope you have a good time Icy. We stayed in 1950 in march 2011 or maybe 2012, I can't recall. Probably not what you want to hear but we found it be pretty flat later on the evening. I'm pretty sure all of the accommodation is apartments so I guess everyone has a living room and kitchen if they wish to stay in. George's wine bar is very pleasant but not exactly accompanied by bangin' tunes. There is a decent bar on the main street and we usually had a glass of beer there after each day's skiing - I'll see if I can work out which one it was. We ate out three times but two of the meals were mediocre at best.

I think there is more going in 1800 although we didn't try it in the evening.

The skiing is great by the way! It's proper ski in ski out. Be careful with your ski hire (if you are hiring). Our skis were very poor. Mrs BB most unimpressed as one of her bindings disintegrated on the 2nd day.

Look forward to hearing how you get on.

Cheers BB - I did expect that answer to be honest! We are staying at Radisson Blu apartments, so yes there will be a bit of entertainment at home.

We have booked skis with Precision ski hire. Will bear in mind your comment and make sure they are decent. We used to have 'wild' ski holidays, but my friends now have very young kids so things had to be different this time.

Let me know which bar it was - was it the irish bar?

Icy - there's a quick write-up of our pre-Xmas trip here; Arc 1950 trip report

I think "the Irish Pub" is the Belle Pintes; nice enough but not particularly Irish when we were there. 8)

There is a nightclub but that's about it for partying opportunities.

...but for skiing; you'll love it.

Thanks adders, really useful review - reminds me I must write my Les gets one from last week.

Sounds pretty much as I expected, interesting to see that you stayed at the same place we are - speedos will def be getting packed!

Bought the ski pass, sorted ski hire. Just 33 sleeps to go!

Tons of snow, more coming and some clear, cold weather next week... can't see you enjoying that!

Sounds awful. Sounds like won't be the same as the hard packed icy warm weather I had in January?

Reckon we will see any white falling or just blue (bird?)

Packed bag, 15kg. All time record - 1 pair of socks is enough isn't it?
