Hi all,
I'm going to Milan in February with a plan to travel to Gressoney/Champoluc/Cervinia from a Friday to Monday. I skied once before in 1992 in Andorra and have been talking about doing it again ever since!

I know I won't get much experience over 2/3 days but does anyone have advice about which area would be better for a lone almost beginner skier?! Would love to get a good run at it and not be stuck on nursery slopes all the time but also don't want to be a hazard....

All suggestions gratefully received!

Personally I think the key to the enjoyment of this one is going to be lessons. If you only skied once before 25 years ago then you are basically starting from scratch. Decide on a location and get some booked up would be my advice.

Thanks Ranchero!
Do you think I'd be able to book lessons for just a couple of days? What would be the best location in terms of my preference for small and cosy and as close to nature as possible. Cross country sking really appeals to me although I know very little apart from what I imagine... Is it a lot harder? Or just different?

Thanks again!

Most ski schools will allow you to book lessons for only a few days, especially over weekends.
As for the location, have only been to Cervinia, but is Italy so assume everything is small and cosy.
Cross country is easy and fun to pick up (less so any slight downhill). If you are into running alone then this could be your sport, just zone out and exhaust yourself.

Hello Deeder - I am planning a trip this December but didn't know where to go. Cervinia sounds good. I'm arriving to Milan from USA.

Also - I recommend lessons too. Spend the whole day with a small group showing you what to do.. the next day on your own. Such a blast!

I was a short time ago, beautiful place cervinia. Do not miss the "ice kart". Or you can absolutely see the blue lake.
