Could anyone advise where the underground car parks are in the Morzine area, please?

I'll be wanting to park close to a ski lift which would give me access to Avoriaz.

There's lots of snow forecast over the next 9 days or so, and don't want to be digging out my car at the end of a day on the slopes.

Thank you

Hi there

Your best bet is the underground car park right next to the pleney lift. It's about 2 mins (if that) from the car park entrance

It's a great car park that plays radio through speakers throughout

To get to avoriaz you would have to get the train or the ski bus. To be honest I have parked at the avoriaz prodains lift that is outside and never had any problems.

Snow looking better now, when you off?

Thanks Iceman - I'm actually here at the moment - I've taken a break from my job in order to spend the season in a ski resort (without the bore of needing to work, that's the payback for 30-plus years of hard graft).

After asking lots of questions on this forum, I settled on the Portes du Soleil - I want to learn French, so it had to be France, and I didn't want to stay in a high-rise resort like Avoriaz.

I'll head up to one of the areas you suggest tomorrow, thanks again.

Sounds great to me. We really like that area in both summer and winter. Know what you mean about avoriaz, not a good looking town - all the buildings are brown so they match the mountainside in the summer - not a good look in the winter tho.

Morzine is a nice village, we also like les gets up the road - we stay there as well as morzine.

We are heading out on 23 Jan, conditions look like they are improving!

There's a few of us out in morzine on the 23rd also. We usually go in the j2ski trip but couldn't work the dates this year so opted for morzine. 6guys in total. May see you there.

I took your advice and parked at Pleney today, thanks for the tip. All the spaces in these French car parks are tiny! I was so impressed with my reverse parking, I took a photo of it (also to ensure that I had a record of the battered French car next to me, in case I came back to find dents and scratches in mine).

I needn't have worried about the snow – it was rain until the top of the gondola, and higher up looked very bleak – that would at least have been snow though. It was 7C where I am staying (St Jean D'Aulps).

It's apparently due to get colder, so by the time you guys come out, the snow should be great by then.

I saw on the weather reports it was due to rain :(

Another good place we park is the top of the Super Morzine lift. If you take the road to Avoriaz, it's about half way up. It's a good way to get to Avoriaz and is not as busy as the cable car. There's also a nice little place for drinks, crepes etc there - so after a long day, straight in there. Job done. Just be careful, if its snowing is heavy it gets covered so you will need chains. If we go to Avoriaz, that's how we get there. Very rarely get the cable car, however I hear that the new one is very good.

If you get over to Les Gets, there's an under cover car park there too at the Chavannes chairlift. Skiing over that way is great - I prefer to Morzine.

As I am typing this I am getting Jealous!!

Ade - where you lot staying?

I tried the Ardent car park/lift a few days ago - outside parking, and I needed the winter tyres, but a good way to reach Avoriaz (you have to take another chairlift from there, you probably all know that).
