I have relatives in Ukraine, while the war was raging I was reluctant to travel there, but now things have calmed down, I am thinking about it.

The currency is very weak compared to Sterling and as things are difficult economically for them I would expect the resorts to be very competitive price wise.

I am looking at Carparthia which has a number of ski resorts. Anyone been or can comment?

It sort of feels like it would be different and maybe helpful for the poor people there at the same time.

Might not be in the news so much but I think "calmed down" sounds a little optimistic

Well I know what you mean, but the Kiev area and Lviv are quiet and have been since Euro-maiden also the Carpartian area is North West and far from any conflict area.

Still I have doubts myself!

Go to Bukovel if you want good piste skiing, or go to Dragobrat if you want to get some "freeride".

I'm originally from Ukraine and it's 100% safe in the West ie Bukovel and Dragobrat.
Skiing is pretty avarage and accomodation in the resort is expensive but there are plenty of other activities to enjoy.

I have been to Kiev and Lviv and it was safe, I would be interested in trying skiing there. Get back to me if you wish to travel together
