Typical! The first sign of a change in the weather for a few weeks that may bring some much needed snow and the freezing level goes and jumps up above 2000m!!! Rain is coming!!!

So my question to all fonts of skiing knowledge out there is this........ myself the wife and 2 friends are off to Kirchdorf next saturday (blimey a week today!!) and we are all beginning to wonder how easy / difficult will it be to convert our skis using the rollers from each of suitcases??????

Positive thoughts most welcome as I am now beginning to Von Trapp myself :?
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Hi freezywater,

Just come back from Kirchdorf so I can bring you up to date with conditions.
If you are a biginner in Kirchdorf itself you will be OK, the snow cannons have been at work around the bottom of the lift between the Seiwald and the Alphof and the bigginers drag lift area is open. There was nothing else open in Kirchdorf itself.
We were bussed to Fieberbrunn for the remainder of the week once we left the bigginers area and conditions were excellent, this is only 5 km away.
I beleive that at least St Johann and a couple of other areas have opened up so wont have to resort to grass skiing.

Hi, thanks for the update, we were in Kirchdorf back in january same week and there was tons of snow so some of our party, especially me are disappointed with the current snowfall!! None of us are quite beginners so I wouldn't have thought the drag lift on the nursery slopes will be much use, is the t bar open next to the alphof did you say? Should be interesting as we skied the steinplatte last year so Fieberbrunn would be nice as we've not been. I'll let you know whether it's snowed or rained when i get back!!

I beleive that the steinplatte is now open, the t bar open next to the alphof is not but they are expecting snow on Tuesdasy and Wednesday so you never know. I am sure you will not have any problems finding snow and Fieberbrunn is great for inters and advanced.

Happy New Year
