Hi everyone! :D

First thread one J2ski, so i`m gonna get to the point immediately, I live in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and I am using this
opportunity to attract more skiers to this wonderful country. Most people think about war when they hear about Bosnia and Herzegovina, the thing is that war ended 15 years ago and this country has rebuild itself and now has lot to offer. In 1984 Winter Olympic games found place in Bosnia and the city where i live and work(Sarajevo) is surrounded by amazing mountains. Because we are third world country our standards are low, therefor you can come and ski here on Olympic mountains for around 250€ for entire week. I have calculated in that amount accommodation, ski pass, carving equipment and transport expense. I know, sounds ridiculous compared to other ski resorts. Daily ski pass here is around 15€ and you can get from center of Sarajevo (Capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina) to a nearest Olympic mountain for 2.5€.

Sounds great on the price. I am used to skiing big mountains and know nothing of yours. I know you held the Olympics but how do the mountains compare with say Switzerland or the alps in America?

I would love to travel around the whole former Yugoslavia. I've been to Dubrovnik, Ohrid, Pula and Ljubljana but I'd like to go to Zagreb, Sarajevo, Mostar and Srebrenica in particular.
I understand you can also ski in Serbia although the main resort name escapes me?

Grächen a small Swiss ski resort not far from Zermatt recently gave the people of Sarajevo a gondola lift to replace the one that ran from Sarajevo up to Trebevi? that was destroyed during the war http://www.bh-news.com/en/print/4025/sarajevo_will_regain_its_trebevic_cable_car.html

There were some very poignant images in the Swiss TV news report about it http://www.videoportal.sf.tv/video?id=6d564d23-28ad-4b17-b29e-78f1eaa7f17c
