when does skiing season start

Myself and my husband and three children are thinking of going to Zell am Zee for a week. We can get really good value deals on accomodation and flights from the 16th -23rd December. However, i am afraid that maybe the season wont be in full swing and that there may be lifts etc. unopened. Can anyone advise me . Thanks.

I dont know exactly, but as Zell am See is fairly low, there may notbe much snow cover on the lower runs so obviously the lifts wont be open if thats the case. The higher ones should be ok as it goes up to near 2000m. There is always Saalbach nearby to try if the lifts around Zell arent open that often...

You can buy a lift pass in Zell am See that also covers the glacier at Kaprun, which is easily reachable from the town.
