Deposit just paid for '07 austrian ski trip but stuck for yrs at intermediate level with occasional 'advanced' efforts. No off piste type ambitions but want to ski like a native austrian some year soon. Know all the ski school teachings from yrs of attendance but not all going from brain to skis. Any advice about good ski dvds?

Yes, definitely - the Warren Smith Ski Academy DVDs are excellent, and are ideal for intermediate skiers and above. Warren breaks everything down into very specific technique elements and has simple exercises for each. There are currently 3 Lesson DVDs which each cover the four disciplines of Carving, Steeps, Moguls and Freeride.

There is also a pocket-sized handbook available for the first two Lessons - which are perfect for taking onto the mountain with you and leafing through over a Hot Chocolate.

We have some extracts from the Lesson 1 DVD on our Ski Technique Pages here and you can order any of the Warren Smith Ski Acadamy DVDs here. 8)

Highly recommended! If you have any questions, feel free...

Thanks for the info. Orders going off asap for the lot! Glad to read today of studies showing that short sessions of high intensity exercise are more beneficial than longer exercise sessions eg 20mins intense better than 60mins regular exercise. Suits me great! This might be the year... %-6

The best video is of yourself.
Take friend with cam on a quiet day and film you on easy intermediate and expert runs. You will see errors you are making as the skiing gets more difficult.

Skiing has some basic rules which must be respected.Rather than a video may I suggest the very best book on modern skiing. The Athletic Skier by Warren Witherell! If you put in practice his few hints you will be an expert skier!

Lets us start from base.
Check skis, type and condition
Check boots. flex( soft)
Check ski tune ( wax,edges at 1degree base 2 degree side0
check ski/ binding position

If after all this you are correct, read book!!
