Your bang on Eljay, but it does sometimes seem to missing in society today

Sadly, I have to agree with you. :(

Don't be sad just for agreeing with me

Pablo Escobar wrote:It has not been losing money at all, just looking for someone to invest and take it forward. Too many people care to let Glencoe go.

The fact it is on one of the busiest roads up North and is the closest ski hill to most of the population (think Glasgow) means it could potentially be a very profitable all year round business.

They have started constructing a bike track already and ideally a multi stage lift would be constructed from the base to provide better all year round access and walking trails up top.

The views from the top are breathtaking.

It is that long range vision in the past they have done things like only opening from Thursday to Sunday, potentially it could be a good investment, but it is whether some of the people involved with Glencoe actually want it to succeed.
Anyone use walkie talkies?

Pablo Escobar wrote:Can use walkie talkies, have done, good idea if your daughter is happy with it. Cheap ones do the job. I would keep putting your daughter in lessons, (lessons or not) she will improve now at a much faster rate than you and you are just going to end up having her wait for you longer! Your alternative is to go an extra skiing holiday a year over what she has in an attempt to keep up

I brought mine from ebay cost around £25, just be careful you really want the ones with the higher range like I said before mine are 6k's, some of the cheaper ones are a lot less
Pablo, what is the place really like is it run down how many miles of piste and who owns it ???

My name is Allie and I'm an overprotective parent

I've told you before that myself, OH and 8yr old daughter have been on 3 ski hols so far. Before this year, we were never able to ski together as a family because we spent all our time having lessons and were too nervous to ski without an instructor.
This year, we made loads of progress ( Red ski school, Niederau) and were able to ski together a few times after class - though still only on nursery slopes.
Anyway, my daughter skis much faster than us and was at the bottom of the slope way before us. This made me a bit nervous, although she was in my line of sight the whole time. But it got me thinking, if we manage to do some easy cruisy greens next year, we might need to communicate with daughter, if only to say Please Wait For Us! I don't like the idea that we might lose sight of her or not know exactly where she is ( overprotective, I know).

Then I had a brainwave - we could get a set of walkie talkies, then we could communicate!
Does anyone think this is a totally mad idea?

I have a set that we use they have a six kilometer range, you do sometimes pick up quite a few other user's, where they come into their own is between two cars on the journey no need to keep in touch by costly text or phone call just use the walkie talkies
Livigno or a Resort like it?

My mum always told me not to tell lies so I won't, yes I did.

But.... I have been to livigno many times both Winter and summer I love the place, it's not everybody's cup of tea but we like it, you here stories of it being rowdy but I have never experienced that, I think the village is big enough to hide a multitude of sins, have always found the locals incredibly friendly that is in the summer as well as winter when ski resorts are generally trying to make as much dough as they can.
The skiing is a good place for intermediates and there are plenty of beginner pistes the down side is there is not much accommodation on the piste if you don't mind a short walk or catching the bus
it never bothered us.
It has the bellavista pizza restaurant which sells the best pizza I have ever tasted and the Bar agata, it's a locals bar don't expect loud music it's friendly local bar the owners are fantastic people I would highly recommend it.
And to finish off it looks like we are going to spend a week there this summer, we were there last summer and did not here an english voice.
