A few of the larger tour operators have chalets in N. America that require hosts. Nielson, Crystal etc... Contact them directly. I spent 4 seasons in N. America without working papers and managed to get jobs and accommodation almost too easily. The Brit accent works wonders; just avoid the glitzy, famous resorts and go somewhere off the beaten track and you should have no problems winging it.... |

Hello Randy, I've got a chalet at Jasna in Slovakia with space for half-term. It's 40 mins from Poprad airport which fly from Luton. Best thing probably is to have a look at our website www.chaletslovakia.com. Contact details are on the webpage. |

Winter Park is by a strange geological phenomenon the coldest place in the continental US. Hence the good snow.... They also do not piste their black runs - this then assures the existence of moguls.... Purely as a lure... It is a rarity.... |

Tino_11: I think you are overestimating what summer glacier activity is all about. They are not vey big. They are pretty featureless unless there is a park there. Normally there are no chairlifts installed because a glacier is a moving mass of ice and hence there is no chance of installing the engineering required. Drag lifts are a lot easier to install. The conditions are ice in the morning turning to utter slush by about 11am... They are okay for a day or two as part of a summer holiday. But you'll probably be a bit let down expecting days of good riding / skiing. |

It's difficult to advise you of a sure-fire instructor. Even if you go to a highly recommended school; you will unlikely get the same person who received the accolade. One trick is to try to meet a potential instructor before you book to try to get a vibe off them - if you get a bad vibe then you are better off sourcing another. (I realise the logistics of this pre-booking but it can be done once in resort). The key is to tell the instructor what you are experiencing. If things are moving too fast then inform them. |
