I have used the BBR 8.9 and Cham 87 - in my opinion there is no choice to make. I had an absolute blast on the BBR and as previously said they can ski anything well and are a lot of fun. As for the Cham 87 - i wouldnt spend any time on them even if i was given them - just not in the same class as the BBR.
One ski that you should consider is the Movement Jam - great in all snow conditions including knee high powder and held their edge well on hard pack but most important of all they were great fun. |

you may want to take a look at uk based companies like ski safari(there are others)and purchase ski hire through them as a package with a lift pass - definitely cheaper than hiring in the states and buying a lift pass there. They will then email you a voucher to take to a hire shop in Vail. If i recall correctly 2 years ago we hired ski's through a UK company and it still cost me £330ish for 10 days for top ski's. thats almost at the point of making it more cost effective to buy our own.

love the analogy (steine erickson/sumo wrestler)..so what would 'La Pavel' stance look like?
no doubt from reading previous post it would be perfect and the end result would ski perfect too.. was in steamboat with a lovely older lady who is soon to be part of the family and she was the perfect skier..could deal with any terrain or type of snow...... i imagine Pavel is that type of skier.. |

Fantastic ski area and has something for everyone although limited for newbies. Town is long and has a lift from each end and one in the middle but they end up generally in the same location - idalp, which seems to be the place to stop at the end of the day for a beer before the last run down to the village. Only one main route back to the village from idalp which splits half way down and tends to be a bit of a free for all but was fun standing and watching some inexperienced skiers tackle the various challenges on the way down.
Highly recommend the ski area and would visit more often but it is one of the more expensive resorts to stay in. There is a Pache? nightclub there which i was told was 80 euro entrance fee - personally i wouldn't go even if it was free! Not many english there and most skiers sounded like they were russian. If its skiing your going for you will love it if its nightlife then take 2 credit cards! |

Thats one heck of a long mogul run in Felthorpe's photo - I can feel the burn in the quads just looking at it.

Be interesting to see if Evolution can cope with the increase in numbers or if they have any type of political or other pressure applied to them - either as a company or individual instructors.
