the obermairs pretty good . last stayed there 2011. it has a sauna/steam room and a pool which is freezing :shock: there is a main building and an annexe linked by a underground walk way . i heard people say that the main building is better and all the brits get shoved in the annexe . but ive stayed in both and could`nt see any differance other than having to walk through the tunnel to get to breakfast.

garry , ive stayed at the obermair a couple of times . nice place and well positioned for the train to get you down the valley to other resorts. also it`s proably as easy to get to the horberg lifts from there as it is to get to the penken . so you can avoid the queues :D

rocksy , i find the red runs down to the penken gondala easier than the runs down into the horberg bowl. so red 1 , 6 and 11 are`nt too bad . 6 has a short steeper bit at the bottom . so dont be put off as you are going up , it`s not bad if you go steady and it give you a bit of speed for the flat run to the chairlift/bar.
3 and 5 are a bit steeper in places . 7 and 27 from the top of the horberg are great , just be careful on 7 as it crosses black 17 and blue 7 a couple of times. dont do what i did and turn onto the black .

rocksy, you can leave your skis in the lockers at the bottom of the penken. but if you plan to take the train down the valley of head up to the hintertaux you will have to go and get them first . ok if you`re using the penken lift everyday , but otherwise i would`nt bother.

been to mayrhofen in jan for the last 2 years . the queues look worse than they are . they put in a spiral walkway in a few years back that improved thing. once you`re in the queue you move though pretty quick. first day will be the worst , so we will be on the ahorn until lunch then head up the penken. as has been said , the middle part of the gondala trip is pretty high and you pass the old middle station where you hit a stantion and there is a slight change in dirrection. love watching peoples faces when the gondala hits it .

strass bar is good . brian christopher well worth seeing. other good bars? scotland yard , mo`s . im there with 4 mates , but 1 has come in to a bit of money , so has treated himself to a room in the strass(thank god as he snores for britain). the rest of us are in a B+B down the road.

Scarletgirl , im there that week too.where you staying? this will be my 6 time there.

cheaper when you get there i would have thought too.
