I hate you, Iceman! I was trying to avoid the "No Of Days" countdown for my trip to Val d'Isere, but now I know it's 92 sleeps away!
Still, less then 100 so I should be thankful for small mercies. :P PS: Val d'Isere, 31 January for me. I cannae wait – I have unfinished business with the Face De Bellevarde... |

Finally, after much panicking and general faffing, I've booked!
La Tania for a week, 1 February - and I've roped in the missus for her first-ever piste experience to boot. I'm not sure who's madder! Please feel free to add me to the list, Ally; God, it feels good to be able to say that... |

Went to Châtel in February and really enjoyed it. However (as stated above) it is very spread out and there's an uphill walk of around a mile to the village if you're staying in the valley floor, as we did. There is a free ski bus, but it ends around 7.30pm/8pm.
We were nearer the Linga gondola, which offered easier access to Avoriaz where we spent most of our time. There's an awful lot of terrain in Avoriaz for all levels and you'll cetainly not get bored or run out of pistes. Morzine is about an hour away from Châtel (less if you're speed merchants), and you'll arrive via the Super Morzine gondola, then have to trek across town to the Pleney. It's easily do-able for a day, but the route back may be a bit hairy for less-advanced skiers, with several flat sections and mainly red pistes and a lot of well-used runs being your only return option. We certainly didn't find an easier route back, and we covered a lot of terrain. |

Finally - top of the pile!

Last year, I think! I'll let you off this time, (purely cause I'm off to Les Arcs on Saturday!) |

Thanks for the info, Oldboarder - I'm a little more at ease now. I'd best end this reply before Iceman comes after me! |

I'm due to stay at the Charmettoger apts in a fortnight. Dare I ask how the accommodation was, Oldboarder?! |
