The Goggle debate - for best visibility use in dull/snowy conditions.......

Hi All,
OK - so perhaps already debated to death - if so please point me to those postings. If not: I am looking for the details around what Goggles to get to IMPROVE visibility on the slopes in POOR light. Sun is easy - you can see all the bumps. But what about in SNOWY conditions - or late afternoon DUSK conditions? Do I use a YELLOW, ORANGE, PINK GREEN, PURPLE lens? Is there a goggle that works extremely well in both? Is there such a thing as colour enhancing? Anything to help me see the bumps! Do I have to carry a second set with me on the slopes? (we normally go out for the HWOLE day - so might start in fantastic sunshine - but end in snowy/dull conditions). Any help appreciated. |

For completeness, I will give an update to this topic.
I have booked after some research: to EXTEND my trip by one week. So now will be doing 17th to 31st! And we will do one week in Obertauern, and one week in Flachau! I have found two fantastic hotels with Ski -in and ski- out in both locations.... I will give you an update in January! |

WOW ...... Pavelski...
You must have been there in the SHOP with me ;-) - thats EXACTLY what the sales guy said. He could not contain his excitement. He LOVED the ski's - and it was not just sales talk - he really did! I am even more excited now.... I cannot wait to go play!!!! |

Ski's..... to lock or not to lock... that is the question?

OK Everyone, here goes,....
So I finally bought my own ski's - and yes - paid a small fortune for them. Also, yes, I have insurance against ski theft, via Winter Sports insurance, blah, blah, blah. So my question is simple...... expensive ski's.... do they generally get knicked? Stolen? Borrowed ;-) - I am more worried about the Hotel Boot Room over night than I am about the actual ski slopes....... right? Am I being paranoid, or do you think its a case of better safe than sorry? And if so - can anyone suggest a ski lock that works? |

OK - I had to tell someone.
I just picked up my Salomon BBR's 8.9 today!!! Now in exactly two weeks I will be trying them out..... I cannot wait. Anybody else try them yet. The thing that I fear is that they are the LONGEST ski's I will have ever ski'd on. Will I struggle on 1.86's ? seeing as I have normally ski'd on a 1.65 until now (and play around on 1.3's when I get bored)!! Some facts: I am personally 1.90 CM tall! I have started to do Blacks (in terms of ski ability), and will be venturing into some Powder for the first time!) Any opinions? |

Hey Tony....
Yep - lets get on with it!!! :-) To be perfectly honest - this is about my limit too - but there were a number of factors worked in - like flying from Southampton - which saves me 100 quid on Taxis. Problem is as you know IT ALL ADDS UP! Speak soon. |

@Iceman: *laugh* , hope you weren't referring to my comment - I have a lot of respect for Tony, he has helped me on a number of previous topics :-)
No disrespect intended, Tony, hope you didn't take my comments that way. @Andy: understand, no problem with it, I will respond to any interested parties via PM - I am sure people do not want to know where "you" are going over a particular time. Might have someone knocking on the door going - "Hey I know you from the J2Ski forum, you said you would be here" |
