I head up the A1 all the time in winter. The sad reality is that the A1 is generally a palaver. Heading the other side of the lake possibly worse. Even Mr Optimistic Google maps says 1 hour 35 from the airport. If/when we get snow I will let you know how long it takes to get from my house (near airport)to Chatel. I will push Extra hard to see if I can get near 95 minutes.

If I got to Chatel from Geneva airport in an hour fifteen I would be very, very happy and I am a habitual speeder. Closer to two hours fifteen than one hour fifteen. Just sayin'

The snow seems to be coming from the South then, because here in Geneva we have had no snow since November whereas last year we had a lot of big dumps. Bloody alps get in the way,

I would like to say that my snouts have some good news for you but I can't. It is like spring around here at the moment; except warmer.
Should i go to Austria.

Impossible to generalise but if I had to rank them.

Food-wise; Italy top of the heap, Austria not far behind. France\Switzerland tied for last place.

For coffee. Italy miles in front. Austria\France\Switzerland tied for last place.

For cheap quaffing wine. Italy then France then Switzerland\Austria in last place.

Top-shelf wine. France by some way. Then Italy\Austria. Switzerland has some great wines but bonkers prices.

Beer. Austria by a mile. Then Italy (thanks to Peroni). France an honorable third thanks to 1664. As for Switzerland; anyone for Feldschlossen?

For skiing they are all pretty good.
