We were in St Anton last year and at the bottom of blue run no 17 in Alpe Rauz there was a free bus every 5 minutes to the Trittkopf gondola in Zurs (and return therefore). Alternate buses (i.e. every 10 mins) ran from Alpe Rauz through Zürs and into Lech. There were hourly service buses (not free) from St Anton to Lech. We didn't go to Klösterle so I'm not aware of the bus service to there.

You can get them from The AA and Thomson shops also (don't know whether they're issued there and then though). However CaxtonFx consistently offer the best exchange rate.
My card, despite having CaxtonFx's logo on it, actually says it was issued by Newcastle Building Society and is covered by the FSA compensation scheme. |

Have you thought about a Euro currency card? I've got one from CaxtonFx, http://www.caxtonfxcard.com/ It's like having a Euro bank account without cheques and direct debits. I've had one for 2 years and used it in hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, petrol stations, lift pass kiosks and ATM's without ever being charged. You top it up on-line (or via mobile phone). Today's rate is €1.18 to £1 and if I transfered funds today that's what I'd get, no hidden charges. It's free to obtain one other than putting an initial amount on the card. I tend to add to it every month which is a good way to save spends for hols.

Four years ago we went to Folgàrida which is lift-linked to Madonna. One day a week there was a free bus (c. 45 mins) from there to Tonale and back (you had to reserve sets) so perhaps there is similar from Madonna. As Ian Wickham said though Tonale ain't a great resort once you're beyond a beginner but it was another resort to tick-off as having done.
As far as Madonna goes I'd be interested to know if the lift-link to Pinzolo is open now, pls let us know when you get back. I can't remember if there were buses to any other resorts. |

Thanks for the info guys. having looked at the bus timetable I think a day out in Courmayeur is on the cards.

Hi,
We're going to La Thuile in March and the ski pass gives you 2 days skiing in other Valle d'Aosta resorts. On the map I notice that Courmayeur is only 15km away. Can anyone provide any info on travelling between the two, e.g. how often are buses? how much? etc. Are any other resorts feasible/worth a day trip? Ta! |

5 of us are going there on Saturday for a week and we went 5 or 6 years ago. £350 each sounds good to me (is that half-board? still reasonable if not). 'Fraid I don't know you accomodation though.
It's a surprisingly large resort with around 310km of piste with some good days out to St Sorlin d'Arves for example. It's a good resort for intermediates esp. in La Toussuire which is a giant bowl. For such a large resort few of the big UK operators go there and you won't encounter many non-French people. Le Corbier village itself is a series of tower blocks linked by a passageway at ground level with all the amenities you need. There are a few good bars and restaurants but don't recall a nightclub (we go for the skiing). My wife and a friend bought skis there as they were very reasonably priced. |

A few years ago we went to Pra Loup which is linked to Foux d'Allos. I don't remember a resort called La Seignus though. Anyway I thought it was a really good resort, some good reasonably priced mountain restaurants. Not many non-French people there.
