So this is video of our short trip to Utah, we did DV and then Snowbasin, video below is of Snowbasin. Its a remarkable place and I don't think many Europeans or Americans are aware of how fantastic the place is.



So here is a TR from Snowbasin, home of the Olympic Downhill, Super G and Combined races of 2002. It really is an incredible place with long-runs with 2500ft to 3000ft of vertical (for Utah), serious expert terrain, and UTah powder when its there. We experienced rain, soft crust, hardest ice for the areea and champagne ice-cream Utah powder ... and loved every minute of it, and my boy closed the gondolas every day.

the lodges on mountain are better than anything I have seen ANYWHERE, North America or Europe with bathrooms better than the finest hotels in Europe, and that is on mountain. This bit is for those who ski well and like the fine things on a mountain when not on blades.

Thanks Ally G, those maps are a big help to get some perspective

where is Serre Chevalier in relation to the place called Alpe d'huez, both are near Grenoble, it would be nice to see online a map of these locations .. maybe google maps can do something..i read about the Sarenne, so curious..

how would you compare the two places?

and again as you said best place to stay is the Villeneuve place for ski-in/ski out type or as close to that as possible for Serre Chev..

Thx, it looks pretty vast, though trail maps are hard to judge since it seems the # of runs is not that many but they must be pretty long...

any chance those pics or videos can be made visible without having to login to facebook?

Awesome footage, that was some steep terrain, and appeared to be fluffy powder which turned into "ice" ... just too good...

Just one problem - the collection of bodies on their faces 10 metres down the first piste heading towards the interliniking lifts to the other sections, littered with people who either had no idea how to ski in the conditions, or those who took it too fast and went over.

Windy conditions do make it hard for folks especially if it kills visibility. So folks took a tumble and sounds like a crowd! going downwind..interesting and kind of amusing..
