Hi Nicx,
When are you going? We are going March 22nd. I've been there for one day from Alpe D'huez and thought it was good. We are mainly going for the garanteed snow with one of the biggest summer ski areas. Have you checked out the local web sites: http://www.2alpes.com and http://www.les2alpes.com/index.php?L=1 What level of skier are you? The layout is unusual in that some of the easier skiing is higher up. http://www.2alpes.com/templates/1/documents/panoramique.pdf?size=1224499 I have read that since there is only one easy route back to the resort, that this can be busy and worn. Does anybody else have any experience of the other runs like Valentine or L'Y? Sorry can not help with Chalet or night life. Cheers, Llew |

Its been a few years since we went to Les Menuires. Its obviously linked to loads of other resorts.Depending on your speed of skiing and what lift pass you intend to buy, it is possible to get around all villages. I remember we got between Meribel and Couchevel, thought we had best get back as a taxi ride would be really expensive if the lifts closed ) , however it was only about 3.30 when we were back in Les Menuires. I can not remember much of the area, but I do remember the opposite side of the valley was good open quiet blue runs. Also try to avoid the run along the valley from Val Thorens as lots of poleing.
As for night life, the resort is fairly small, but there was an under ground night club which I recall being ok. Sorry can not remember much more. Cheers, Llew |

I was not aware of this, but just found this on line:
http://www.peakretreats.co.uk/ski/samoens.htm "With a 6 Day Grand Massif lift pass you also get to ski one day on the Portes du Soleil ski area (Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel…)." |

I think the screens are too small.
I wouldn't fancy dropping my phone. ) however has anybody tried this nokia GPS tracker whilst skiing? http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/index.html |

yeh, know what you mean.
This rucksack is small and light. Just enough room for goggles, spare hat, chocolate as Spud asked. It does have 2 front buckles and therefore may be able to adjust to allow breathing. I do find breathing often is useful. |

I don't know if you are still looking for a rucksack, but I have supprisingly bought one from Tesco for cycling and this years ski trip. Its a 6L hydration rucksack and only £9.99.

not sure if you've seen this info:
http://www.ifyouski.com/resorts/summerski/ It is also useful to consider when going early or late in the season, as snow will therefore be garanteed on the glaciers |
