Try the 'Grosser Arber' Area just north of Zwiesel.

I was skiing there in Feb 1972 and so was Conrad Bartelski. He was in a Euro slalom race & fell at the top.lol
I wonder if he remembers that one?

The 'new technique' - compulsory?

I went up to the attic for a rummage around and found my old (forgotten about) 201cm Blizzard thermos. What a change to the 179cm Salomon X-wing Furys i ski on now.

I only used them for one holiday to Soll in 1986 i think it was.
I still have my Dynastar 192cm 'Non Stop' Pintail Monoski and i still love skiing on it.

Snowboard shapes

I have never been on a Snowboard.I am a Monoskier.
I came out of the lift of a hotel in Bansko and i was surprised to see 4 boards leaning against the far wall of the reception that looked like Monoskis but as i got closer to check them out i saw they had Snowboard bindings on them.

The owners turned up and we had a chat about them. They were in fact Alpine Snowboards.

Monoskis have evolved since the '80's Pintail shapes into shapes that resemble a long Snowboard.

It seems that both disciplines have taken something from each other with mutual benefit.
I am not sure whether or not Snowboards started out as longer than the standard of today or developed longer for racing.
Maybe i could fit Alpine Snowboard bindings on one of my boards and ride it Snowboard style? Now there's a thought.
Feel free to clue me up please.

How often do avalanches cross over on to pistes and should piste only skiers be more aware of the potential for this happening?
