while i was sking in france last week ,i took my atomic skis to repairers as i had a deep scratch from the previous season that went to the base but was told that they were worn out and that a repair would only fall out as the skis were thin ,i bought them 2 seasons ago second hand but really like them,so is there no way of getting a whole new base fixed on ,or do i just dump them, and if so what is the new equivalent to the atomic sx9 super cross

hi catski ,we flew to chamrousse but our friends drove from calais as they are staying on in france after to visit paris ,and they have a 4wd but there were very few cars driving with chains on ,lorrys and buses were going up the hills without chains ,they seem to keep the roads good, but it would be wise to carry chains and perhaps do a dry run, we seen a couple trying to put on chains in alpe deuz a few years ago in 40 cm of snow at night it was quite good to watch as we waited for the bus they put the chains on the back wheels (the car was front wd),if you need any more info will try to help, you will have a gr8 time loads of snow up there now ,if you cant speak or read french take a phrase book menu is french only .

chamrousse is one of the most beautiful ski resorts we have been too the views over grenoble and adjoing mountains is stuning, and the trees that line the slopes just make it the perfect christmas card picture, however it is very french and so different to other french resorts we have been too ,we were shunned ,ignored, and turned down by some restaurants, and in the 7 days we were their 5 nights we spent at the same one as they made us feel welcome ,so we think there is a very small minority of french in chamrousse 1700,1750 that do not want english there but most were helpful and even though english is not spoken very much we strugled through with gigles from both sides ,as a family of four it cost us about 180 euros a day for food & drinks , breakfast in our self catering apartment was relatively cheap from the sherpa shop,if you like a big mug of tea in the morning take one from home the small cups over there hold about a mouthfull so i was having 12 cups for breakfast, we stayed at the arselle apartments at 1700 and our nearest bar and restaurant was le bachet with the out side swimming pool in front ,we tried it on the first day it was quiet me and my bil stood at the bar for 10 mins the 2 bar staff just carried on fiddling behind it was obvious we were not welcome but we kept waiting money in hand and then 2 french people came along and were served straight away i tried to explain we had been waiting but was ignored ,we did not go there again but it meant a 20 min walk up the hill each night to get to roche beranger shop mall, so crystal ski be aware of this, will we go again, yes the not so friendly french people we met wil be forgotten in a short time, but chamrousse and the nice people of chamrousse will draw us back again ,

this is a little late for dean as he has flown by now but we are off to chamrousse on 17th with thompson, and i am taking 2 pairs of skis ,and i nearly risked it ,but payed the £60 for the 2pairs just in case as they said 6 kg was the limit per pair and the skis and poles with the bag will weight more than that ,but when i flew to zell last year with ryan air i paid about £50 for the ski carriage and it was packed with every thing wine bottles in the boots ,clothes ,and skis, (tony h dont go thier) nothing was weighed or searched, so i think ryan air is great and i hope thompson are not going to be any different,or the power of j2ski members will bring them to thier knees, and please snow in the alps and big loads in chamrousse this week .
