That sounds like our sort of ski holiday! Thanks for the other info here too... getting very excited and have even been in the gym in readiness. |

We've done it all independently as we want to go for an odd number of days (neither of us can sort out a full week off work).
So, Easyjet flights from Bristol to Geneva - early on the way out and late on the way back, so we can ski on the travel days; then car hire from Geneva to Chatel and an apartment booked via ownersdirect.co.uk. It probably won't work out any cheaper doing it this way - and ski carriage with Easyjet is a hefty £50 - but it means we get exactly what we want without any annoying package airport transfer delays. If we had longer, I'd have considered driving to the Alps again - we have done this before and the travel time is hardly any longer once you take away all the airport hassle you get these days. |

Try Cervinia in Italy - lots of long, cruisy blue runs with all the delights of being in Italy.

Done! Will be interested to see the results.

Thanks for your replies. We'll have a car with us, so I would think we'll be able to drive to Les Gets if we do want to ski over that side - although the Swiss and Chatel sectors look like they'll have enough to keep us busy.
I've just been looking at a YouTube video of someone ski-ing the Swiss Wall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcR-dxTlb1s&feature=related It's definitely not one we'll be attempting! |

I've just booked for two of us to spend five nights (four full days and, hopefully two half-days) at Chatel in the Portes du Soleil next month :D
We're middle-aged intermediate skiers looking for ski cruising between resorts, with a good lunch spots en route, rather than adrenaline and challenge. Any recommendations and descriptions of routes/runs/mountain and village restaurants would be very welcome - it's our first time in that area, so would like to minimise the amount of time spent hanging around looking at piste maps. Thank you! |

Being cynical, paying through the nose, especially when thinking about high in the French Alps.
When it snowed in the UK last year, my husband was making fresh coffee one morning. I said: "coffee and snow on the ground really reminds me of ski-ing" "Go and sit outside and I'll charge you £6 for it" was his quick reply. :) |
