Right Folks, the issues are these, going in January:
La Ros: Pros - south facing, sunny Cons - windy, oily drag lifts, no (or few?) blue runs through trees for the wife Montchavin: Pros - pretty village, lots of runs through trees, more interesting landscape, Cons - lack of snow lower down, may be icy due to lack of sun The wife is concerned about the drag lifts are La Rosiere (she has cream ski pants!) Can any tell me what type of lifts these are, i.e. button, T bar or some other type? Would we be better going to either of these resorts in early March? What might the snow be like then on an average year? Cheers for all your answers |

Does anyone on here have any comments to make about a week in La Rosiere versus a week in Montchavin next January?
Several contributors have noted the possible lack of snow on the lower tree lined pistes and the "oily" drag lifts at La Rosiere. Others have mentioned that La Rosiere can be very windy - how often is that? I am intermediate and my wife is a cautious parallel skier. Any useful comments would be gratefully received to assist us in our choice. |
