 Sweet Jesus... the pressure...
Hopefully you can write them off then without only leaving one (or less) companies in the running. I guess the first step is to skim away the co.s with no hope of delivering what you're looking for.
Ok.
Not a problem. Speaking to a Ski Inst is pretty easy, particularly if it means you get to tick a box and make your life easier. If you prefer to get additional advice from someone who knows better there's nothing stopping you.
True. The ins. co. could then only latch on to something specific like skiing a closed run. I've read reference to this in the threads and need to understand more I think...
Yeah I reckon you're right, it probably does look impressive at lunchtime  Whether people are able to use them or not isn't your concern though, as long as your mates can, and it keeps the suits happy :D I've PM'd you too, just to run some things past... |

I hope nobody minds me butting in here, but I've followed this thread with interest (and read most of the convos on SH and FB links). Through my work I have (unfortunately) gained some experience with vaguely worded policies and bureaucracy, hence the spark of interest. Also, I'm not an off piste skier so am coming at this from an ignorant perspective (like insurance co's)
Would I be right in thinking that across all of the threads there are three main issues re off piste skiing? The first I noticed was re equipment which needs to be carried i.e. probe, shovel and transceiver. The second, the need to be accompanied by A.N. Other (or a guide in some cases) i.e. not alone. The third being the avi risk level, that there is never a zero rating, and therefore a concern around cover full stop. Is that a fair summary? The first two appear to be pretty straight forward. The third, I have an idea which may enable you to get a straight answer from the insurance companies. It'll just take a little more time on your part. Just want to make sure I understand the picture first. :D |

Not sure about really last minute but there are some good deals around at the moment. Just checked Crystal for packages from Birmingham to Austria (you didn't say where you are or where you want to go) and loads there for well under £500pp. For NY I reckon that's good going.
On another note, I just realised that we could have saved £265 EACH for our NY hol if flying from Brum instead of cruddy Cardiff AND got an extra days skiing in. Spoilt my day, I'm off to stomp around and plot revenge for a bit.        |

I'll second that.
Lessons aren't cheap but neither are ski hols. Doesn't make sense to spend all that money and then spoil it. It sucks big time being stuck on a mountain - not fun  Nyck you're doing the right thing. Even if you're the only one in your group who has them, the others'll soon catch on when you're leaping ahead of them  They'll be whipping their credit cards out quicker than... a rat up a drainpipe. (There are so many better 'quicker than' comparisons, I'm just not sure where the boundaries of acceptability are here yet!) |

Don't worry Dave, my future home is still taking up 1st and 2nd spot, France may sneak in to a respectable 3rd though after looking at these pics  |

Salski - wow!! Those photos are amazing. Scenery is stunning and the runs look lovely too. I'm a bit of an Austria addict but will definitely be considering this place for 2011. Thanks
