Like Mightyjust said the trip down to the blue slopes are a bit tricky, but I think it can be done with 10-12 days on the board. It's a red piste down and should not be as icy as in summer when going oct/nov
Normally there should be plenty of snow in october already (first should fall in september). I've been to Hintertux last week and although the snow was bad, the blue pistes were still quite good and nice to ski on! As an alternative, you also might consider Kaprun's Kitzsteinhorn, which is also less steep than Hintertux |

Zermatt is open all year round, except for bad weather. There should be plenty of places to rent stuff. As said by SwingBeep be really careful with going off-piste, glaciers are quite dangerous off-season outside of the marked slopes |

As said, I'm looking for feedback from people who are currently on the slopes. And as you can see I engage with people responding, answer questions, etc. Is it strange to ask on different sites? I personally don't think so.. |

There are quite some hotels with free wifi (Hotel Le Val Thorens for example). But in the Centre Commercial there are some bars offering it as well..

That is indeed a problem, mostly for people not skiing in their own country. (People from France, Austria, Germany, US, Canada, Australia are mostly skiing in their own country on the other hand.) Luckily the EU has laws in place lowering the prices per mb for roaming data to €0,20/mb in 2014. Besides, a lot of resorts are currently investing in wifi on the slopes and in the resort, because they see wifi as a unique selling point. Skiwelt Amadee has coverage throughout the resort, on every piste. So it is indeed a problem for a small percentage of the skiing population, but luckily one that is currently resolving itself through innovation and legislation. We are already offering features for people who can use roaming, but Snowciety is also completely usable with data off. We made sure of that.. |

Lots of hotels, restaurants and bars have wifi, but afaik the resort itself does not. Last time I visited was season of 2010/2011 though.

No, because current iPhones have multitasking on board it is easier to use other music apps like iTunes, Spotify or 22tracks to listen to music.
Unfortunately 3 times no, but we are working with hardware vendors to look at the possibilities. If you know any resorts that have sensors planted on their slopes, let me know! Would love to get in touch |
