2 hours for non-members in Manchester is £25 and a £5 for each 30 mins thereafter. Still not bad.

It would be good to ski elsewhere, as we travel around the country a lot, but the prices are significantly higher than the members' prices at Manchester.

There's a big group on here getting together at Xscape Castleford soon, you could always join them and give that place a try.

For ladies, the Chill Factore has another advantage in being around the corner from the Trafford Centre, the largest indoor shopping mall in Europe if not the world!

The slope also has Snow and Rock, Dare 2 B, North Face and other snow shops.
I haven't skied anywhere else, but rumour has it that it is the largest at present in the UK (length and width). Looking at the costs, it is also the cheapest by a good margin, and has the best pricing plan, members being £14 for 1 1/2 hours, and £3.50 for each 1/2 hour thereafter up to 4 hours.

Very flexible, especially compared with some other places.

I hear that there's a new place going to built down near Bristol, have seen the plans and photos (looks like a large alpine chalet), but there was no indication of the dimensions.
I was recovering from my Birthday bash at the Chill Factore, where (if you're a member) you get a free 1.5 hour lift pass and can take 2 others at 30% discount.

Here's a clip of me enjoying myself:

Thanks for everyone's input - we have finally decided to go on a 40's and 50's trip at Montchavin (I'm at 56!!) on 26 February for a week.

Hopefully, with snow falling at several resorts already, this winter is going to be very white, and there should be plenty of snow even down into the village, with even a bit of sun coming over the tops of those peaks.

We're also going back to our favourite ski area at Jungfrau in early Feb so it will be interesting to compare the 2 areas.

I'll second that. They're good anytime of the year, but especially when skiing!

Also, you will want to ski down the very pretty blue run towards Grindelwald from Kleine Scheidegg after you've had your Rosti to try out the apple fritters at the restaurant at Brandegg (next to the railway station). Like very light doughnuts with apple inside and covered in custard, they are ... mmmmmm ... delicious!!

Ow, can't wait to be there in February.

thanks bandit - we do regularly use the button lifts at the Chillfactore but have never had a problem with those, but some many people have mentioned them at La Ros that they may be a real issue
